Payroll Specialist Job Description

As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of employee payroll processing. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate payroll data, preparing and submitting payroll taxes and reports, and investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for employees on a regular basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain employee payroll data accurately in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, changes in salary or benefits, and timekeeping records.
  • Prepare and submit payroll taxes and reports accurately and on time.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful as a Payroll Specialist, you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
