Job Title: Database and Server Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Database and Server Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our database and server environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Perform MySQL installation, configuration, upgrades, replication setup/monitoring, and user management.
  • Database Health Monitoring: Troubleshoot metadata locks, slow queries, replication lag, and optimize database performance.
  • Linux Server Management: Manage user accounts, monitor processes, manage cron jobs, update packages, and check system resources.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and monitor backup and recovery processes using tools like mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup.
  • Patching and Upgrades: Perform routine patching, upgrades, and security hardening for MySQL and Linux environments.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve technical issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers with proper RCA inputs.
  • DR Drills and Capacity Planning: Participate in disaster recovery drills, capacity planning, and system audits.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Database Support: Provide timely support for all database-related issues.
  • Server Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure server uptime and performance.
  • System Audits: Conduct regular system audits to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of MySQL and Linux systems.
  • Experience with database administration, health monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
