Senior Leadership Position

The role involves overseeing daily operations of the coding unit, including workload and staffing. Responsibilities include hiring, disciplining, performance appraisals, training, and monitoring quality of work.

Key objectives include developing long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs to ensure implementation. The successful candidate will also assist in planning, developing, and controlling the budget for the coding unit.

Evaluation of the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures on the coding unit is a critical aspect of this role. The ideal candidate will design and implement systems to improve data accessibility, identify problems, assess, and resolve them. They will also prepare administrative reports.

Key responsibilities include overseeing and monitoring the coding compliance program, developing educational and training programs regarding elements of the coding compliance program. Ensuring dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes is also essential.

The position requires conducting and overseeing coding audit efforts, coordinating monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy. Non-compliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring must be reported, along with the nature of corrective action plans and results of follow-up audits.

Trend analyses are required to identify patterns and variations in coding practices. Key qualifications include any graduate degree (preferably from a life science background), 17+ years of experience in multispecialty coding, and substantial team management experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as well as strong managerial, leadership, analytical, interpersonal skills, and outstanding organizational skills. Hands-on experience generating reports using MS Office - Excel, Word, and MS PowerPoint is also required.
