Pharmacy Assistant Job Description

The Pharmacy Assistant is a key member of the pharmacy team responsible for dispensing prescription medications, managing orders and storage, and providing excellent patient care.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently, adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Manage orders, storage, and safekeeping of pharmacy inventory, ensuring an adequate supply of medicines at all times.
  • Review prescription information and monitor for potential drug interactions or adverse effects.
  • Provide relevant and complete information to patients about their medications, side effects, correct dosage, and proper storage.
  • Collect payments from sales and deposit them responsibly.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized pharmacy environment, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in pharmacy or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
