DMSII Database Administration Role

We are seeking a highly skilled DMSII Database Administrator to fill this key position.

  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases is a crucial part of this role.
  • Database performance monitoring, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes require close attention.
  • Effective data access management involves managing sets, subsets, and indexes.
  • Database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures must be handled with care.
  • Schematic changes and database reorganizations are essential for optimal system performance.
  • Cross-environment data integrity and capacity planning require collaboration with application and system teams.
  • Performance and access issues need prompt resolution through troubleshooting.
  • Disaster recovery testing and compliance with backup policies are vital aspects of this role.
  • Implementing and maintaining security measures, audit trails, and user access controls ensure a secure environment.
  • Documenting DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures enhances operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration is a must.
  • Familiarity with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools is required.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery techniques is necessary.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues is critical.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks is essential.
  • Basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII is a plus.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA is required.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this role.
  • Flexibility to work in rotational shifts is an advantage.
