Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working on complex engineering projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Plumbing System Design:
    • Design and develop plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm water, hot water, gas systems etc.
    • Conduct calculations as directed by senior engineer.
    • Create detailed system layouts, including pipe sizing and equipment selection.
    • Apply knowledge of international plumbing design codes.
    • Utilize Revit and BIM software.
    • Collaborate with other disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural, landscape etc.
    • Experience in LEED and sustainable design projects beneficial.
  • HVAC System Design:
    • Conduct heat load calculations using HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) to determine heating and cooling requirements.
    • Design HVAC systems including water-cooled and air-cooled chiller plants, VRF systems, DX systems etc.
    • Select equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, VRF systems, fan coil units, AHUs, fans, and DX units based on project specifications.
    • Calculate ventilation requirements, pressurization needs, smoke management systems, pump head calculations, external static pressure, and size ducts and pipes.
    • Select air distribution components like VAV boxes, grilles, diffusers, louvers etc.
    • Coordinate HVAC designs with other disciplines such as architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering etc.
    • Apply knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, AHRI, CIBSE, HTM, ASPE etc. in HVAC system design.
    • Plan and design various HVAC systems considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and indoor air quality.
    • Proficiency in BIM tools like Navisworks and BIM 360.
    • Prepare design reports, specifications, take-off sheets and BOQ for HVAC systems.
    • Attend meetings with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and collaborate with various disciplines.
    • Participate actively in project meetings, provide technical insights, and resolve engineering issues.
    • Coursework or certification in HVAC systems advantageous.
    • Proven experience in HVAC system design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system optimization.
    • In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration cycles.
    • Familiarity with a variety of HVAC equipment, controls, and components.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues.
    • Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Firefighting Systems Design:
    • Design fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and hydrants, according to national and international codes.
    • Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, ensuring proper coverage and compliance with safety standards.
    • Design and layout fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring integration with other building services.
    • Review fire protection system submittals and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
    • Coordinate with fire protection authorities and building inspectors for approval and compliance checks.
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (B.E/B.Tech/master's in mechanical).
    • 8 to 15 years experience in Plumbing/ HVAC & Firefighting.
