Solid Wood Export Designer

Our company is seeking a skilled Furniture Designer who can create innovative and commercially viable designs for the global export market.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in furniture design, preferably in solid wood, and excellent skills in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, etc. They should also be knowledgeable about global furniture trends, ergonomics, finishing techniques, and joinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research customer preferences through past sales data, social media, and international market trends
  • Create original design concepts in solid wood (Mango, Oak, Acacia, Teak) aligned with our export strengths
  • Draft production-ready drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar CAD tools
  • Collaborate with merchandising and sourcing teams to translate concepts into viable collections
  • Work with prototyping teams to refine joinery, finishes, ergonomics, and structural integrity
  • Incorporate KD (knock-down) joinery, export packaging standards, and compliance requirements
  • Develop design boards, line sheets, and client presentations for export buyers
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in furniture design, preferably in solid wood
  • Strong skills in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.)
  • Knowledge of global furniture trends, ergonomics, finishing techniques, and joinery
  • Ability to translate abstract research into commercially viable designs
  • Good communication and presentation skills
Bonus Skills:
  • Experience with reclaimed or sustainable wood materials
  • Understanding of packaging and shipping for exports
  • Familiarity with American and European design preferences
  • Prior experience with export-oriented furniture markets
