Job Title: Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping Expert

We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Dam Break Analysis and Inundation Mapping Expert. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of hydrological and hydraulic modeling, as well as experience in preparing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for large dams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the preparation and finalization of Tier-I documents following industry standards and best practices. They will also provide technical support for the development and finalization of EAPs, facilitate stakeholder consultation meetings, and review and finalize plans presented by Project Support Teams (PSTs).

Key responsibilities will include designing and delivering customized training courses on dam break analysis, inundation mapping, and EAP preparation. The candidate will also conduct capacity building programs for Implementing Agencies (IAs), perform integrated flood routing studies for cascades of reservoirs, and undertake need-based inspections of DRIP dams.

Additional responsibilities will include assisting with the finalization of integrated operations of important or cascade reservoirs, conducting dam safety inspections, managing related documentation and communication, and providing inputs for revision and formulation of guidelines related to dam safety and EAPs.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering with postgraduate qualifications in Hydraulic or Hydrology, as well as at least 15 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling using MIKE, HEC-HMS, or other advanced tools. They will have dealt with flood routing, dam break analysis, inundation mappings, operational protocols of dams, and preparation of EAPs.
