About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to develop thermoformed interior components for the railway industry.

This senior-level role requires expertise in SolidWorks and deep engineering understanding to deliver manufacturable, cost-optimized solutions while minimizing changes to tooling.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components, with a strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.

A solid understanding of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes is essential. The ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs and communicate effectively with clients is also crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop interior thermoformed panels for trains using SolidWorks.
  • Translate customer rough concepts and specifications into production-ready 3D and 2D designs.
  • Adapt panel designs to changing project requirements while ensuring minimal tool modifications.
  • Engineer the rear side construction of panels, including reinforcements, ventilation solutions, and mounting details.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in CAD design for thermoformed plastic components.
  • SolidWorks expert level surface modeling, assemblies, tool-related adjustments.
  • Strong background in railway, automotive, or transportation interiors.
  • Knowledge of plastics material properties, tooling, and production processes.
  • Ability to translate conceptual sketches into manufacturable designs.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction and engineering discussions.
