Web Engineer Manager Job Description

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of extensive experience with Drupal architecture, APIs, and module development.
  • Proficiency in the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js).
  • Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, and potentially microservices architecture.
  • Experience with website Search technologies and solutions like OpenSearch, Solr and Elastic Search.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading the building of scalable and maintainable solutions for our existing websites, using modular and reusable components.
  • Driving, guiding and directing new development efforts for our component-based website systems, while keeping an eye on proper integration with our underlying content management system.
  • Maintaining and improving overall performance of our websites, while simultaneously ensuring we maintain compliance with current standards and best practices.
  • Reviewing team's designs and providing feedback on deployment safety, resilience, scale, performance, and security.
  • Facilitating feedback and discussions with Product and UX Design on customer needs, user experience, implementation efficiency, and performance.
  • Ensuring all changes are fully tested before being deployed.
  • Ensuring deployment plans are well-considered and include appropriate scalability and load tests.
