Freight Import Operations Specialist

Import Ocean Freight Operations Manager
- Manage the import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
- Negotiate rates with carriers, maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents, and develop pricing strategies.
- Oversee pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
- Coordinate with internal departments (sales, documentation, customer service, and finance) to facilitate efficient cargo clearance and delivery.
- Maintain compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
- Lead the import operations team – allocate resources, set KPIs, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training.
- Monitor departmental P&L, ensure cost control, and prepare regular budgets.
- Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
- Promote high standards of customer service, promptly resolve issues, and ensure consistent client satisfaction.
- Generate regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.
Key Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
- Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
