Job Overview

A healthcare company is seeking a skilled Engineering Manager to lead our claims processing engineering teams. This role requires expertise in system design, people management, and technical leadership.

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Design and architect scalable systems handling millions of transactions
    • Lead system design reviews and make technical decisions for complex workflows
    • Ensure system reliability, performance, and security meet compliance standards
    • Drive technical strategy for claims adjudication, provider networks, and member management
    • Collaborate with architects on system integration patterns and data flow optimization

People Management:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of software engineers across multiple product areas
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence
  • Recruit top talent and build diverse, inclusive teams
  • Manage team capacity, sprint planning, and delivery commitments

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner closely with Product, Data, and Operations teams on feature planning and delivery
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation roadmaps
  • Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Drive engineering best practices, code quality, and delivery processes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with 1+ years in engineering management
  • Strong system design experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Hands-on coding experience
  • Experience with real-time processing systems and high-volume transaction processing
  • Track record of successful large-scale system migrations or platform modernizations
  • Proven track record of scaling engineering teams and managing technical talent
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), databases, and modern engineering practices
  • Experience with agile methodologies and continuous integration/deployment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR)
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims workflows and adjudication processes
