Job Overview

The Procurement Specialist of Raw Materials plays a pivotal role in securing essential raw materials for production processes. This position involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining quality and timely delivery of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Raw Materials Sourcing: Review purchase requisitions and float RFQ as per plan received from the planning team
  • Negotiation and Procurement: Negotiate best prices and issue PO to L1 as per approval of AVP & VP Procurement, following procurement SOP
  • Supply Chain Management: Ensure timely delivery of material (OTIF), diligence in follow-ups with suppliers, ensure timely payments, vendor reconciliations etc.

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Trend Analysis: Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency, analyzing market trends and identifying potential risks and opportunities in the raw materials market.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities, building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and negotiating favorable terms and conditions.

Cost Optimization:

  • Budget Management: Manage the procurement budget for raw materials and ensure compliance with financial targets
  • Value Addition: Implement cost-saving initiatives and continuously seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs

Quality Control:

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all raw materials procured meet required quality standards and specifications, collaborating with Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with Inventory Management team to ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials, implementing inventory control measures to minimize wastage and reduce excess stock

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Risk Identification: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies, identifying potential risks in procurement process and developing mitigation strategies
  • Culture Development: Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within procurement team, promoting teamwork and open communication

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Master's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field. Professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) preferred
  • Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, with focus on raw materials, demonstrating strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and strategies
  • Skills: Excellent negotiation and communication skills, proven ability to manage supplier relationships and build strong partnerships, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in procurement software and tools, SAP knowledge a must
