Optical engineers play a crucial role in designing and optimizing complex optical systems.

The job involves analyzing optical designs using Ansys SPEOS and Zemax Optic Studio to ensure system performance meets stringent imaging and illumination requirements.

  • Key responsibilities include building, validating, and optimizing optical models for lens systems, surfaces, and optimization tolerancing in Zemax.
  • Performing stray light analysis for imaging, illumination, and optical sensor systems using SPEOS is also a critical task.
  • Identifying ghost images, scattering, reflections, and diffraction effects in optical designs requires expertise in non-sequential ray tracing and scatter modeling.
  • Developing and validating using SPEOS GPU, use SPEOS material library models for materials and coatings is essential for accurate results.
  • Proposing mitigation strategies (baffles, coatings, surface finishes, apertures, filters) is another key responsibility of the role.
  • Conducting trade-off studies with and without baffles and between CPU and GPU is necessary to optimize system performance.

You will generate clear technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and client reviews. Staying updated with the latest methodologies and tool capabilities in stray light modeling is crucial for this role.

Collaboration with senior optical engineers to apply advanced stray light mitigation strategies and integrate findings into product design is also required.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics or Physics or Photonics or a related field, hands-on experience with stray light analysis using Ansys SPEOS and Zemax Optic Studio, and strong knowledge of non-sequential ray tracing, ghost analysis, scatter modeling.

Proficiency in CAD integration for opto-mechanical system modeling, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and reporting skills are essential.
