Music Instructor Opportunity

About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Music Teacher who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate must have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver music lessons that meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Utilize assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to Individualised Education Programs.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with positive behaviour support policies.
  • Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani Music or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school or special school setting.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (preferred).
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
  • Knowledge of Tamil language and light songs/Bhajans.
  • Experience with communication aids and training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices.
