Job Description:

As a Database Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and performance of our SQL Server databases.

  • Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
  • Install, upgrade, and migrate SQL Servers to meet business requirements.
  • Implement high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Configure automated alerts to notify the team of any issues.
  • Work on incident tickets, change tickets, and problem tickets to resolve database-related issues.
  • Setup maintenance plans for backups, database integrity checks, rebuild indexes, update statistics, and ensure all jobs run without issues.
  • Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts, and resolve them.
  • Participate in bridge calls to troubleshoot and fix P1 (SEV1) and P2 (SEV2) incidents.
  • Have hands-on experience with Always On and DB Mirroring.
  • Execute schema changes and maintain a controlled development database environment.
  • Collaborate with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands.
  • Deploy database objects to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Provide daily support for high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases - Identify root causes of production problems and work with developers to resolve such issues.
  • Perform performance tuning by creating missing indexes.
  • Be willing to work in 24X7 projects (shifts).
  • Have experience with scripting using Perl, PowerShell.
  • Have experience in AWS/Azure.
