Job Summary
  • The role of Senior Legal Advisor involves supporting the Deputy General Counsel in critical initiatives to evolve and improve legal processes and procedures.
  • You will identify legal and regulatory issues in service or product offering initiatives and customer agreements, including awareness of privacy and data security issues, and work cross-functionally with teams to create solutions and minimize risk.
  • As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will engage strategically in risk assessment/mitigation and develop innovative approaches to legal issues in support of business objectives.
  • Providing practical and creative legal advice on a broad range of topics in a fast-paced environment is also a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Deputy General Counsel in critical initiatives to evolve and improve legal processes and procedures;
  • Identify legal and regulatory issues in service or product offering initiatives and customer agreements, including awareness of privacy and data security issues, and working cross-functionally with the appropriate teams to create solutions and minimize risk;
  • Engage strategically in risk assessment/mitigation and developing innovative approaches to legal issues in support of business objectives;
  • Provide practical and creative legal advice on a broad range of topics in a fast-paced, high growth environment;
  • Work closely with the teams charged with generating business and proactively establishing relationships across the legal team and with other departmental leads and key contributors; and
  • Assisting with corporate, M&A, and other legal matters as requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • This position requires strong legal knowledge and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • A bachelor's degree in law (LLB) or equivalent qualification is required, and a postgraduate qualification such as an LLM would be highly desirable;
  • You should have at least 3 years' experience in a similar legal role, preferably within the financial services industry;
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and legislation, including GDPR, AML/CFT, and anti-bribery laws is essential;
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
