Mep Engineer

We are seeking an experienced MEP engineer to join our team. This is a challenging role that requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and general building maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Supervise, mentor, and manage the engineering team including engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff. Develop and implement training programs for staff to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards. Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee and coordinate all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and renovations. Ensure that all equipment and systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, are operating efficiently and effectively. Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues in a timely manner.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Maintain records of safety inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Budget and Inventory Management: Prepare and manage the engineering budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs. Monitor and control expenses to stay within budget while maintaining high standards of service. Manage inventory levels of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other hotel departments to address their engineering needs and ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with hotel management to report on maintenance issues, progress on projects, and any potential risks. Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as needed.
  • Project Management: Plan and oversee renovation projects, upgrades, and new installations to enhance hotel facilities. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Manage project documentation, including contracts, plans, and permits.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Work closely with other departments to address any maintenance-related guest concerns or issues. Implement improvements to enhance the guest experience and contribute to overall guest satisfaction.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices to reduce the hotel's environmental footprint. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of sustainability programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient use of resources. Manage procurement processes for engineering-related supplies and equipment, including obtaining quotes and approving purchases.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Prepare and present regular reports on engineering operations, including performance metrics, budget status, and major projects.
  • Compliance Audits: Coordinate and support regular compliance audits, inspections, and assessments conducted by internal or external parties. Address any findings from audits and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance.
  • Technology Integration: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of technology systems related to building management, such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy management systems. Stay current with advancements in engineering technology and recommend upgrades or new technologies that could benefit the hotel.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in a MEP engineer, preferably in the hospitality industry. Proven experience of 3-5 years as a Engineering manager in a luxury 5 Star hotel.
  • Skills: Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
