Database Architect Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned database architect to spearhead complex database projects and oversee a critical migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.

This role demands expertise in designing enterprise-scale database solutions, proficiency in development across multiple database platforms, and proven experience in project ownership and client management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute a comprehensive SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration strategy.
  • Initiate and design database models for RDBMS and NoSQL projects.
  • Provide support to development teams with database-related requirements and troubleshooting.
  • Develop expert-level database objects, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and indexing strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Migrate stored procedures, functions, and jobs from T-SQL to PL/pgSQL.
  • Architect scalable, high-performance database solutions for PostgreSQL and other platforms.
  • Take full project ownership, including timelines, deliverables, and client communication.
  • Develop migration tools and data validation frameworks.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in database architecture and development.
  • Expert-level skills in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and advanced features.
  • Strong expertise in multiple database platforms, including SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS), MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Proven database migration experience, preferably from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
  • Development skills in .NET or Java.
  • Client-facing experience with strong communication skills.
  • Project ownership experience, managing timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PostgreSQL certifications.
  • Experience with migration tools, such as AWS DMS and Azure DMS.
  • ETL tools and data integration experience.
