Job Title

The role of a Lead Data Scientist involves developing machine learning and data analytics solutions to create industry-leading maps. This includes designing and building process automation in HERE Core Map processes using Big Data infrastructure and machine learning for global-scale digital map-making.

The candidate will work with researchers, developers, architects, and IT teams to develop, deploy, and maintain applications in multiple environments.

  • Design and build next-generation process automation employing scalable Big Data infrastructure and machine learning.
  • Develop and test analytic and statistical models to improve internal data-driven processes and system control needs.
  • Act as an expert and evangelist in areas of data mining, machine learning, statistics, and predictive analysis and modeling.
  • Function as a predictive modeling or application team lead on Core Map projects.
Requirements

The ideal candidate holds a MS or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Econometrics with emphasis on computational statistics/science/engineering, data mining, machine learning, and optimization.

A minimum of 7+ years of related professional experience is required, along with knowledge of data mining and analytic methods such as regression, classifiers, clustering, association rules, decision trees, Bayesian network analysis, etc.

Proficiency with statistical analysis packages and associated scripting languages like Python, R, Matlab, SAS, etc., as well as programming experience with SQL, shell script, Python, etc., is also necessary.

Knowledge of big data tools like Pig, Hive, Hadoop, and/or Spark for data extraction and prep for analysis, as well as the ability to interact effectively with customers to explain uses and value of predictive systems, are also crucial.

Preferred Qualifications

Development experience with Scala, Docker, GIS data, and NoSQL (i.e. DynamoDB) is preferred but not required.
