Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Cargo Operations Specialist to oversee the strategic planning and execution of cargo shipments. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Cargo Planning & Execution:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive cargo movement strategies in alignment with customer requirements and vessel schedules.
    • Ensure seamless coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders to guarantee timely and efficient shipment delivery.
  • Rates Management & Customer Negotiations:
    • Lead rate quotation and negotiation processes to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.
    • Approve and standardize rate offerings based on market trends and operational feasibility.
  • Vessel & Booking Coordination:
    • Secure bookings in the EBMS system and with carriers, ensuring timely updates of rates and vessel/voyage information.
    • Collaborate with the planning team to optimize space allocation, including feeder service requirements when necessary.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
    • Coordinate container allocation, Empty Container, and CSC certificates with inventory and MNR teams as per carrier requirements.
    • Optimize container inventory planning to meet customer demands and minimize turnaround time.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Provide updated vessel schedules to customers based on cargo readiness.
    • Drive efficient communication regarding container pickup status, required documentation, and compliance with List & VGM cut-offs.
    • Oversee ODC permissions coordination with operations and carriers for smooth gate-in processes.
  • Operational Oversight & Compliance:
    • Validate booking forecasts against planned vessel schedules.
    • Approve dimension changes, liaising with pricing teams for revised rate approvals.
    • Supervise SOC/COC container linking with carriers for seamless operations.
  • Performance Monitoring & Process Optimization:
    • Monitor key performance metrics across planning, execution, and customer service functions.
    • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Post-Shipment Coordination:
    • Share ON-BOARD confirmation with customers in a timely manner.
    • Direct the planning and operations team to complete RCVS and LODF entries post-shipment confirmation.
