About the role

As a Lead System Engineer for Network Protocols, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing complex network infrastructure across multiple regions. This includes LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches and security systems.

You will work closely with the Infrastructure Architect to propose and define roadmaps for network design and implementation. Your expertise will involve designing, deploying and maintaining LAN infrastructure, WAN and SD-WAN solutions. You will also configure and optimize Wi-Fi networks for performance and coverage, as well as configure and manage enterprise switches, routers and firewalls for seamless connectivity.

Advanced knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs and QoS, is essential for this role. Experience with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet and Palo Alto is also required. Proficiency in Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting, firewall and security management, and familiarity with monitoring tools are must-haves.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Design & Implementation:
    • Design, deploy and maintain LAN infrastructure (inc R&D labs), WAN and SD-WAN solutions.
    • Implement advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
    • Configure and optimize Wi-Fi networks for performance and coverage.
    • Configure and manage enterprise switches, routers and firewalls for seamless connectivity.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting:
    • Resolve complex network issues (connectivity, latency, routing, security breaches) across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and Wi-Fi.
    • Work closely with local teams to resolve active/passive network issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Security Management:
    • Configure and monitor firewalls (e.g. Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and security policies.
    • Implement and manage VPNs, ACLs and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Wi-Fi Management:
    • Design and troubleshoot enterprise-grade Wi-Fi networks (e.g. Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ubiquiti).
    • Conduct site surveys and optimize high-density environments.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations and security policies.
    • Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software support.
