Job Description:

As a senior backend engineer, you will play a crucial role in building the core experience of our next-gen personal finance app for Gen Z. Your mission will be to transform bank transactions into smart insights and goals that users actually act on.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement REST APIs from OpenAPI specs, including authentication, Plaid link/exchange, webhook, transactions list/patch, and insights refresh/list.
  • Write SQS workers for ingestion and insights, handling tasks such as Plaid cursor sync, idempotent upserts to Postgres, raw payloads to S3, Gemini calls with quotas, timeouts, circuit breakers, and persisting JSON results.
  • Collaborate tightly with the platform/infrastructure engineer to keep security, performance, and cost in check.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience building Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue (SQS/Rabbit/etc.).
  • Proven experience with secure webhooks (signature/HMAC verification) and third-party APIs.
  • Strong grasp of idempotency, retries/backoff, cursor pagination, error design, and API performance.
  • Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and observability basics (logs/metrics/traces).
