Job Title: Primary Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Primary Design Engineer to join our team. As a Primary Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of high-voltage electrical systems.

Your primary focus will be on designing and developing transmission and distribution networks, including substations, lines, switchgear, and power plants.

You will work closely with project managers, secondary design engineers, civil design engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of primary systems/equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design primary systems for HV/EHV substations and power plants, ensuring reliable operation.
  • Analyze results obtained from power system simulation software.
  • Prepare technical design documents, including general arrangement drawings, layouts, single line diagrams, sectional views, panel arrangements, cable schedules, earthing systems, and technical specifications.
  • Calculate equipment sizing, such as power transformers, circuit breakers, capacitors, conductors, and cables.
  • Present technical designs to customers and stakeholders for approval.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in HV/EHV substations, lines, switchgear, and power plants.
  • Knowledge of Transmission & Distribution UK GRID Code/Standards.
  • Prior experience working with utilities in the UK or Europe, providing familiarity with regional regulations and operational practices.
  • Proficiency in primary equipment sizing, such as auxiliaries, diesel generators, and cables.
