Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend software development, with experience in building high-performance systems using languages such as Python, Java, or Go.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead complex backend projects, focusing on performance improvements and migrations.
  • Work with tools like FFmpeg and GStreamer to manage various codecs and formats.
  • Design scalable backend solutions for video processing features, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Enhance video storage, retrieval, and streaming performance through CDNs, caching, and adaptive bitrate streaming.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver impactful features.
  • Serve as a technical leader, making thoughtful architectural decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions to enhance system reliability.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a top-tier institution.
  • Over 7 years of backend software development experience, with a strong emphasis on distributed systems and video processing.
  • Proficient in backend technologies such as Python, Java, or Go, with experience in building high-performance systems.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with video technologies, including:
  • - Video codecs and compression techniques
  • - FFmpeg, GStreamer, or similar multimedia frameworks
  • - Streaming protocols and cloud media services
  • A proven track record of serving as a tech lead and managing complex initiatives.
  • In-depth understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
  • Strong experience in performance optimization, debugging, and scaling applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle ambiguous requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
