Backend Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our agile team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java, experience with web development, and a passion for building scalable web applications.

  • The role requires the ability to design and develop responsive web applications using Java and best engineering practices.
  • The successful candidate will perform hands-on software development, including writing code, unit tests, proof of concepts, code reviews, and testing in ongoing sprints.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Develop Web Applications: Utilize Java to build scalable web applications that meet business requirements.
  2. Software Development: Write high-quality code, perform unit testing, and participate in code reviews to ensure the delivery of reliable software products.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Refactor code to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  4. Technical Expertise: Develop deep understanding of integrations with other systems and platforms within the supported domains.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with product managers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to implement versatile solutions to complex web development problems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in Java with good knowledge of the programming language.
  • Experience working with Java 11 and above is a plus.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Dropwizard is a plus.
  • 3 years of experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, unit testing, functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, GUI testing, web service testing, and browser compatibility testing is required.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery environment is essential.
  • 3-4 years working in an Agile or SAFe development environment is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems is necessary.
  • Proven experience building scalable web applications using Java is required.
