Job Overview

The role of a Database Administrator is to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of databases. This includes tasks such as installing, upgrading, and migrating SQL servers, applying patches and service packs, and configuring high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with database administration, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. They should also be familiar with scripting languages such as Perl and PowerShell, and have experience with AWS or Azure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation/Upgradation/Migration of SQL Servers
  • Apply any patches or service packs for SQL Server
  • Configure High Availability/Disaster recovery solutions
  • Configure automated alerts to send mail to the team if there are any issues
  • Work on incidents, change tickets and problem tickets
  • Setup Maintenance plans for Backups, Database integrity check, Rebuild index, Update statistics, and make sure to run all the jobs without any issues
  • Troubleshoot locking issues, including deadlocks, blocking, lock timeouts and fix them
  • Join bridge calls to troubleshoot and fix P1(SEV1) and P2 (SEV2) incidents
  • Hands on Experience in on Always on and DB Mirroring
  • Execute all changes of db schema and maintain controlled development database environment
  • Work closely with application developers to test, configure, and optimize servers based on application demands
  • Handle database object deployment to Integration, QA, UAT, and Production
  • Provide day to day support of high OLTP HA of SQL Server databases- Identify root causes of production problems and work with developers to resolve such problems
  • Work on performance tuning like creating missing indexes
  • Willingness to work in 24X7 projects (Shifts)
  • Experience in scripting using perl, power shell
  • Experience in AWS/Azure

Requirements:

  • 6 to 12 years of experience in database administration
  • Strong knowledge of SQL server and database administration concepts
  • Hands on experience with database tools and software
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
