Job Description:

  • Lead architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters to ensure seamless performance.
  • Validate sizing assumptions and provide right-sizing recommendations to maximize efficiency.
  • Develop and implement operational best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting) to maintain optimal system health.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and health metrics for Redshift platforms to track progress.
  • Analyze and optimize query performance by identifying workload patterns, schema design, and tuning opportunities.
  • Implement schema governance and define change management/version control processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop a clear, auditable process for deploying new tables, columns, and views to maintain transparency.
  • Serve as a strategic, consultative resource providing expert guidance on Redshift optimization and architecture.
  • Collaborate with client teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Redshift environments.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or database engineering/administration with deep expertise in AWS Redshift.
  • Proven experience in cluster architecture review, sizing, and right-sizing recommendations.
  • Strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals: table design (Distribution and Sort Keys), WLM tuning, vacuum operations, concurrency scaling.
  • Ability to develop and implement operational best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting).
  • Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management.
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills—able to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in client-facing roles within professional services, consulting, or enterprise environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take ownership of strategic outcomes—not just tactical tasks.
