Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead our product design and development lifecycle. As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for driving end-to-end product design and development of consumer and industrial electronic products from concept stage through to production release and market launch.

This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving skills, and leadership ability to guide a small team of engineers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and manufacturable product designs that meet customer/market requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, experience in leading a small team, and excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complete mechanical design and development lifecycle: concept design → prototyping → design validation → tooling → product launch.
  • Translate customer/market requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
  • Perform design calculations, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis for robust product performance.
  • Design products in plastics (injection moulding), sheet metal, die-casting, and machining.
  • Drive material selection based on performance, regulatory compliance, and cost.
  • Ensure manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping to validate form, fit, and function.
  • Build and test prototypes to identify design gaps early in the cycle.
  • Design products with proper thermal management (passive cooling, heatsinks, venting, etc.).
  • Perform preliminary structural analysis, drop, and reliability considerations.
  • Define and execute test protocols for functional verification.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 8–10 years of mechanical product design & development (NPD) experience.
  • Educated in Mechanical Engineering , Industrial Engineering or STEM.
  • Strong background in consumer electronics, or similar domain experience is preferred.
  • SolidWorks CAD expertise with simulation exposure (thermal/structural FEA preferred).
  • Proven ability to deliver end-to-end product designs from concept to market.
  • Experience in leading a small team (2–3 engineers).
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
