Credit Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced Credit Managers with a strong background in mortgage underwriting principles to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing home loan applications, ensuring high-quality credit decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assessing home loan/mortgage applications based on Australian credit policy and guidelines.
  • Verifying income, conducting credit checks, reviewing property valuations, and performing responsible lending assessments.
  • Liaising with lenders and internal teams for clarifications or documentation gaps.
  • Making timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting SLA and compliance standards.
  • Ensuring adherence to NCCP, AML, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Mentoring junior underwriters and supporting process improvements.
  • Preparing daily/weekly reports on pipeline, SLAs, and quality metrics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with at least 2–3 years in the Australian home loan domain.
  • Strong understanding of Australian credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems.
  • Exposure to multiple lenders is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
