Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Design Expert to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the assessment and design of bridges, ensuring they meet the required safety and quality standards.

Your primary focus will be on undertaking assessments of existing bridges, preparing detailed reports, and designing new bridge structures in accordance with UK standards.

You will work closely with our senior engineers to carry out feasibility studies for strengthening and repair, prepare new bridge designs, and conduct design and assessment checks.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with project briefs, following QA and document control processes, and utilizing WSP's design standards and calculation templates.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in bridge design, particularly with Eurocodes and UK CEng standards
  • Strong knowledge of MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, SAM, ARCHIE, and other computer-aided design software
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to participate in team meetings and learning sessions
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a commitment to a 'First Time Right' culture
