Team Leader

The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring that all departmental operations manuals are prepared and updated annually.
They will maintain the daily logbook and submit reports to the Food and Beverage office on a regular basis.
The Team Leader will also be responsible for planning the outlet's weekly roster and work schedules to ensure that the outlet is adequately staffed to handle the level of business.
They will maintain the outlet's communication board and submit all guest/staff incident reports.
The Team Leader will also be responsible for attending weekly Food and Beverage meetings and daily operations meetings.
They will control requisitioning, storage, and the careful use of all operating equipment and supplies.
Customer ServiceThe Team Leader will ensure that all employees establish a rapport with guests and handle all guest requests and enquiries on food, beverage, and service.
They will be demanding and critical when it comes to service standards and ensure that the outlet team projects a warm, professional, and welcoming image.
FinancialThe Team Leader will have a complete understanding of the financial aspects of the outlet and ensure that the monthly forecasted Food and Beverage revenue figures are achieved.
They will strictly adhere to the established operating expenses and ensure that all costs are controlled.
The Team Leader will also be responsible for obtaining and accounting for the correct settlement of all sales and be overall responsible for cashier/floats and their maintenance.
They will handle voiding, correcting, and changing of restaurant checks in accordance with the prescribed procedures and account for all checks used during each shift.
The Team Leader will identify and correct any errors and implement a consistent guest recognition program and maintain a relevant guest database.
OperationalThe Team Leader will provide a courteous, professional, efficient, and flexible service at all times, following Novotel Standards.
They will have a full working knowledge and capability to supervise, correct, and demonstrate all duties and tasks in the assigned place of work to the standard set.
The Team Leader will be entirely flexible and adapt to rotate within the different sub-departments of the Food and Beverage division or any other department of the hotel as assigned.
They will be fully conversant with all services and facilities offered by the hotel.
The Team Leader will perform opening and closing procedures established for the place of work as assigned.
They will have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all Food and Beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend Food and Beverage combinations and upselling alternatives.
The Team Leader will ensure that the place of work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
They will monitor operating supplies and reduce spoilage and wastage.
The Team Leader will handle guest enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report guest complaints or problems to the manager if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow-up with guests.
PersonnelThe Team Leader will identify training needs and plan training programs for the employees.
They will ensure that the outlet employees are adequately trained and have the necessary skills to perform their duties with maximum efficiency.
The Team Leader will liaise and inform the Food and Beverage department and Human Resources department of all training sessions.
They will fully support the departmental trainers function in the department assigned, develop department trainers, and assign training responsibilities.
The Team Leader will assist in the training of Food and Beverage cashiers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with maximum efficiency.
They will ensure that all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
The Team Leader will supervise the employees within the department, ensuring that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained as stated in the department operations manual.
They will conduct staff yearly performance appraisals.
The Team Leader will ensure that all employees maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
They will ensure that all employees report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
The Team Leader will assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, and development.
They will ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's employee rules and regulations.
The Team Leader will ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's policy relating to fire, hygiene, health, and safety.
Other DutiesThe Team Leader will assist in carrying out quarterly, bi-yearly, and yearly inventory of operating equipment.
They will carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned.
The Team Leader will liaise and organize with the Housekeeping department to ensure that the established cleaning schedules are strictly adhered to.
They will coordinate all repair and maintenance and issue repair and maintenance job orders to ensure the proper maintenance of the outlet.
Occupational Health and SafetyThe Team Leader will ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the hotel's policy relating to fire, hygiene, health, and safety.
Employee ResponsibilityAll employees will safeguard their health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace.
They will be ready and responsible for any job that may be assigned by the management.
Qualifications :
The Team Leader will have a secondary/high school education and additional certification(s) in Food and Beverage will be an advantage.
They will have good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English language and the ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage.
The Team Leader will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Competencies :
The Team Leader will have good communication and customer contact skills, service-oriented with an eye for details, ability to work effectively and contribute in a team, self-motivated and energetic, and must be well-presented and professionally groomed at all times.
