Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

Job Description:

  We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Infrastructure Strategist to spearhead the development and implementation of our cloud strategy. This individual will be responsible for formulating and executing a comprehensive cloud plan that aligns with our organizational goals.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop frameworks, standards, policies, and procedures that drive cloud adoption and innovation.
• Support FinOps initiatives by optimizing cloud spending, providing cost management insights, and forecasting future expenditures.
• Provide technical leadership in cloud architecture, ensuring solutions are designed for optimal deployment, security, performance, and high availability.
• Develop and maintain a balanced cloud governance framework based on industry standards, ensuring compliance with security protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and implement proof-of-concepts for emerging cloud services and technologies, staying ahead of industry trends.
• Drive cloud adoption and innovation by exploring new cloud services, demonstrating their business value, and ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
• Collaborate with teams on new and existing business/technology solutions, ensuring they align with established standards and contribute to long-term cloud strategy.
• Perform regular cloud cost reviews and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Mentor and support teams in understanding cloud technologies, standard methodologies, and operational processes.
• Stay informed of industry-wide trends and their potential impact or application to the business, ensuring our cloud strategy remains forward-looking and innovative.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Requirements:

• At least 4-6 years of experience in Cloud Engineering.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both written and verbal.
• Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing capabilities and limitations, business drivers, virtualization technologies, infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models.
• A strong ability to learn new technologies.
• Thorough understanding of system and infrastructure management in the Cloud environment (Linux/Windows servers, firewalls, load balancers, hypervisors, storage, monitoring, security, etc.).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and services (GCP, AWS, etc.).
• Experience with GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Kubernetes Engine. Hands-on experience with AWS services like EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda is acceptable and can be considered as a good foundation for the required GCP expertise.
• Proficiency in configuring and handling virtual networks, including VPC, subnets, and firewall rules.
• Experience handling infrastructure deployments using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform).
• Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, etc., for automating cloud operations.
• Command of software automation production systems (GitHub, Selenium, etc.).
• Good understanding of security principles and standard methodologies, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance requirements.

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Engineering.
• Google Cloud Architect within 1 Year (Preferred) or AWS Certified Solution Architect - Professional.
• Experience in architecting, implementing, and handling multi-cloud environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure correlations with knowledge of servers, networking, AD, security, etc.
• Proficiency in handling and optimizing cloud costs using tools like Google Clouds Cost Management tools or AWS Cost Explorer and other Finops methodologies.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Understanding of or ability to design solutions across on-premise and multiple public cloud tiers (hybrid).
