Job Overview:

The position of Cloud Infrastructure Specialist involves overseeing the migration and deployment of on-premise infrastructure to the Azure Cloud platform. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from planning and executing the migration process to ensuring the secure and efficient operation of cloud-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable Azure landing zones, including networking, security, and governance frameworks that align with organizational standards.
  • Develop and execute strategies for migrating Cloudera clusters from on-premises or other cloud platforms to Azure.
  • Optimize and re-architect workloads to leverage Azure-native services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Event Hub.
  • Implement lift-and-shift as well as modernization strategies for Cloudera-based big data platforms, focusing on improved performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Evaluate data security, compliance, and high availability during the migration process, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Application, Database, Security, Infrastructure, and Data Engineers) to ensure smooth migration and post-migration support.
  • Provide ongoing performance tuning, cost optimization, and technical guidance to ensure the optimal operation of cloud-based systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, Networking, Storage, Security), with hands-on experience in designing and implementing scalable cloud architectures.
  • Strong track record of end-to-end Azure migration projects, with a focus on meeting project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Deep knowledge of Cloudera/Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, Impala, HDFS, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Oozie, etc.), with experience in developing and deploying complex big data applications.
  • Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, Event Hub, HDInsight), including data processing, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, cost management, and compliance regulations, with experience in implementing secure and scalable cloud solutions.
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Terraform, with experience in automating repetitive tasks and workflows.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results under pressure.
