Procurement Specialist Role

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the acquisition of raw materials necessary for production processes. This position involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining quality and timely delivery of raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Purchase Requisitions and issue RFQs as per plan received from planning teams
  • Negotiate best prices and issue POs to suppliers as approved by AVP & VP Procurement
  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and ensure timely payments, vendor reconciliations, etc.

Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Analyze market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities in the raw materials market

Supplier Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns promptly

Cost Management:

  • Manage procurement budgets for raw materials and ensure compliance with financial targets
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all raw materials meet required quality standards and specifications
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions

Inventory Management:

  • Work closely with Inventory Management teams to ensure optimal stock levels of raw materials
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage and excess stock

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies
  • Identify potential risks in procurement processes and develop mitigation strategies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement, with a focus on raw materials
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and strategies
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and build strong partnerships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools

Additional Requirements:

  • Pesticide industry experience preferred
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to raw materials procurement
