About the Role

Branch is revolutionizing financial access for millions of underserved banking customers across Africa and India. By leveraging technology, we are improving access and value for those overlooked by banks.

We're building a full Engineering team in India to accelerate our success here. This team will work closely with our engineering team based in the United States, Nigeria, and Kenya to strengthen our product capabilities and build new product lines.

You will collaborate with our Product and Data Science teams to design and maintain multiple technologies, including API backends, credit scoring systems, payments integrations, and operations tools.

  • Design and develop APIs and backend systems for our frontend clients.
  • Integrate with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
  • Help us build new financial products and scale our backend services to meet growing traffic and complexity.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging technical projects and contribute to the development of innovative financial products.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience (3-8 years) of building backend software for web-based or mobile products.
  • Experience with modern AI tools for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of software development fundamentals, including distributed systems, data storage, and agile development methodologies.
  • The ability to combine technical expertise with business acumen to arrive at effective solutions.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on ownership and problem-solving.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment.

You should also be proficient in at least one programming language, such as Python, and have hands-on experience with toolstacks like dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Metabase, etc.
