Immigration Specialist

Job Summary:

The Immigration Specialist is responsible for managing and supervising the Immigration Team in drafting non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions. The ideal candidate will have 5-7+ years of business immigration experience, preferably working at a large law firm or in-house legal department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in managing and supervising the Immigration Team on drafting non-immigrant (H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, E-3, TN, etc.) and immigrant visa petitions.
  2. Ensure that Team Leads review drafts of the immigration petitions in a timely manner and identify any potential red-flags and errors.
  3. Responsible for updating the Immigration Tracker to ensure that all employees maintain valid immigration status and extensions are filed in a timely manner.
  4. Prepare regular reports and analysis to track immigration metrics and provide insights to leadership.
  5. Interact with cross-functional partners to ensure that the Immigration Team receives company support documents that meet government agency requirements.
  6. Identify and analyze legal immigration issues and present clear recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  7. Provide guidance to team members on determining appropriate Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Codes and wage levels.
  8. Review and/or prepare responses to Requests for Evidence.
  9. Provide timely advice to internal clients on immigration matters, including employment eligibility and associated legal risks.
  10. Assist with developing policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  11. Support project-based legal assignments and initiatives, including template development and revision, and training of internal clients and team members.
  12. Ensure workload distribution among team members.
  13. Develop excellent relationships with various functions and internal clients.
  14. Work independently to continuously improve templates, processes, policies, and operations of the Immigration Team.
  15. Provide support and advice to cross-functional partners in Global Mobility matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years of business immigration experience
  • Experience working at a large law firm and/or in-house legal department preferred
  • Experience managing other immigration professionals required
  • Substantial experience in all aspects of non-immigrant and immigrant visas preparation
  • Ability to work as part of a global legal function supporting US-based business and global business in different time zones
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience with INS Zoom preferred
