Lead Mining Policy Specialist

The successful candidate will lead the development, review, and implementation of mining policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local, national, and international regulations.

Job Description

The role involves:

  • Developing and implementing policies that ensure compliance with relevant mining laws and regulations.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local authorities.
  • Representing the company in discussions with government officials and advocating for favorable policies and regulations.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all relevant mining laws, environmental regulations, safety standards, and community engagement requirements.
  • Collaborating with local communities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to ensure responsible mining practices and foster positive relationships.
  • Working closely with environmental experts to develop and implement strategies for responsible mining practices, reclamation, and environmental stewardship.
  • Identifying potential regulatory risks and developing risk mitigation plans.
  • Preparing and submitting regular reports on compliance, policy developments, and regulatory changes to senior management and relevant authorities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field, along with 7-13 years of experience in policy development, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management. You will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
