Establish a robust database infrastructure as a Freelance PostgreSQL Database Administrator. This role is designed for an experienced professional with expertise in PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL (MySQL), and advanced SQL performance tuning.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience, solid knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, and proficiency in writing complex SQL queries. Additionally, they should be familiar with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

We are looking for someone who can work independently to install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL (MySQL) databases. Responsibilities include performing advanced SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design, as well as managing database upgrades, migrations, patching, and version control.

The selected individual will be responsible for implementing and monitoring replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability, ensuring database security, compliance, integrity, and backup/recovery strategies. They will also collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries and improve database architecture.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including installation, configuration, replication, backup/recovery, and tuning.
  • Strong expertise with Cloud SQL (MySQL) and advanced SQL performance tuning.
  • Solid background in Oracle DBA, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems for database administration.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
