">About the Role">

We're seeking an experienced backend engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a next-gen personal finance app. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that meet the needs of our users.

  • Design and implement REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript, adhering to OpenAPI specs and ensuring seamless communication with third-party services.
  • Develop SQS workers to ingest and process data from Plaid, with a focus on idempotency, retries, and cursor pagination.
  • Collaborate with the Platform/Infra engineer to ensure security, performance, and cost-effectiveness in our backend systems.
  • Enforce input validation using AJV/Zod, structured logs using pino, and distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry.
  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and runbooks to ensure the reliability and maintainability of our codebase.
">Must-Haves">
  • 5+ years of experience building Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue (SQS/Rabbit/etc.).
  • Proven expertise in secure webhooks (signature/HMAC verification) and third-party API integrations.
  • Strong grasp of idempotency, retries/backoff, cursor pagination, error design, and API performance.
  • Comfortable with Docker, GitHub Actions, and observability basics (logs/metrics/traces).

  • Plaid SDK experience; LLM API usage (Gemini/OpenAI); SMS flows (SNS/Twilio).
