Oracle Database Administrator

This is a challenging opportunity to work as an experienced Oracle DBA. The ideal candidate will have 5 – 8 years of expertise and be well placed in our development environment, working on innovating new features and functions in customer-centric applications.

We are looking for someone with excellent technical skills, who can install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases (12c/19c and later) in development, QA, UAT, and production environments. They should also be able to manage Oracle listener, network services, and connectivity.

The successful candidate will proactively monitor database health and availability using OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and custom monitoring scripts. They will also perform advanced SQL query tuning, indexing strategies, and optimizer statistics management.

In addition, they will design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions using RMAN, Data Guard, and RAC. They should be able to validate backup integrity and conduct regular DR drills. We require a strong focus on data security and compliance, including implementing data encryption and access control policies.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in automation and scripting tools, such as shell scripts, PL/SQL scripts, and Ansible/Terraform playbooks. They will develop these skills to automate recurring DBA tasks and support integration of database operations into CI/CD pipelines.

The selected individual will partner with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and schema design for high-transaction systems. They will also work with DevOps teams to build infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for Oracle DB deployments.

This is a dynamic role that requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. The successful candidate will serve as L3 escalation point for database-related issues in production and provide 24x7 on-call support in a rotational model for critical issues.

Finally, they will plan and execute Oracle patching, PSU, CPU, and version upgrades with minimal downtime. This includes performing cross-platform database migrations (on-prem to OCI/AWS/Azure).
