Accounts Payable Specialist Role

The role of an Accounts Payable Specialist involves handling the entire accounts payable process, from explaining and assisting vendors and stakeholders to reconciling the accounts payable ledger and sending payment requests.

This position requires a high level of organizational skill and attention to detail, as well as excellent mathematical and analytical abilities. Strong communication and negotiation skills are also necessary for effective collaboration with vendors and stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting and corporate finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Advanced Excel
  • Complete knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and laws governing the accounting field

Key responsibilities include:

  • Explain and assist vendors and stakeholders with the accounts payable process
  • Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
  • Send payment requests to Finance on a timely basis
  • Analyze bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in payment processes
  • Generate and approve vendor invoices
  • Resolve vendor payment queries
  • Prepare payment record documents for audits

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting and corporate finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Advanced Excel
  • Complete knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and laws governing the accounting field
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
