Compliance Project Lead

A dynamic Compliance Project Lead is required to spearhead the implementation of a Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance framework across all business units within a reputable Bank based in Bermuda.

The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of the compliance program in alignment with Bermuda equivalent data protection regulations, modeled closely on the European Union's GDPR framework.

  • Lead the implementation of the PIPA compliance framework, ensuring seamless integration across all business units.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  • Develop and oversee the development of data mapping and inventory to identify all personal data processed by the organization.
  • Establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  • Design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
  • Prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within scope.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
  • Experience with change management and business process re-engineering is an advantage.
