Senior Ruby on Rails Developer Position

This senior-level role requires an experienced developer who can design and implement scalable Ruby on Rails applications, focusing on architecture, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-performance Ruby on Rails applications with a strong emphasis on clean code architecture, scalability, and reliability.
  • Design and implement microservices-based architectures using Ruby on Rails and Sinatra, ensuring seamless integration and efficient data exchange.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate messaging/streaming platforms like Kafka, ZooKeeper, and Thrift, promoting real-time data processing and efficient communication.
  • Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure smooth integration of AWS services, particularly SQS, hosting, and cloud infrastructure, guaranteeing high availability and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain SOLR for search functionality, optimizing it for high-performance and providing users with relevant search results.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security practices, including bot mitigation using Cloudflare or similar tools, protecting against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor infrastructure health using Datadog, identifying and troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
  • Participate in agile development environments, contributing to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members, ensuring successful project outcomes and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, including experience with Sinatra, and a deep understanding of application architecture, performance optimization, and security best practices.
  • Proven experience working with microservices-based architectures, designing and implementing scalable and efficient systems.
  • Familiarity with messaging/streaming platforms like Kafka, ZooKeeper, and Thrift, as well as hands-on experience with SOLR for search and AWS services (especially AWS SQS, hosting, and cloud infrastructure).
  • Experience with security practices, including bot mitigation, and proficiency in infrastructure monitoring tools, preferably Datadog.
  • Strong debugging, performance tuning, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience working in agile development environments, with a focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and team members.
  • Prior experience in healthcare technology platforms is highly valued but not required.
