Job Title: Database Systems Expert

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of large-scale database systems. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and scalability of mission-critical databases.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration & Management:

  • Manage the design, distribution, replication, performance, and access requirements for IBM DB2/LUW databases on AIX and RedHat Linux.
  • Design and develop physical database layers to support diverse application requirements.
  • Ensure robust backup, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies are implemented and tested regularly.
  • Optimize and fine-tune database performance, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

Automation & Infrastructure Management:

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Elastic, and Terraform.
  • Support the development and management of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment automation.
  • Write and maintain automation scripts to streamline routine tasks.

Application & Development Support:

  • Consult and advise application development teams on database security best practices, query optimization techniques, performance tuning approaches, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in IBM DB2/LUW administration on AIX and RedHat Linux.
  • Proficiency in backup, recovery, archiving, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Elastic, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation.
  • Strong skills in SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Scripting expertise (Shell, Python, or similar) for automation of tasks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and compliance.
