Chemistry Researcher Needed for AI Development Project

  • This is a project that focuses on developing the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in chemistry. The researcher will create problems, analyze model responses, and identify gaps in logic or understanding.

You'll be working on tasks such as:

  1. A coal gasifier operating at high temperature uses a feed of steam and air to produce synthesis gas from pure carbon. Given the feed composition and operating conditions, calculate the equilibrium concentration of a specific gas in the output stream at 1000 K.
  2. Two elementary gas-phase reactions occur in a plug flow reactor with stoichiometric feed and known operating and coolant conditions. Develop a reactor model to estimate the maximum temperature reached, assuming constant external coolant temperature.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. or Postdoctoral in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills are required.
  • Able to provide clear, constructive feedback with examples.
  • Strong written communication, especially in remote settings.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Stable computer and internet access.

Time Commitment & Contract Details

  • Commitments Required: at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.
  • Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer.
