Job Description:

We are seeking an Electrical Motor Design Engineer to undertake a challenging role in designing and optimizing advanced traction motors for specific vehicle performance targets. This position involves applying expertise in electromagnetic design, thermal analysis, and motor control systems to develop high-performance motor designs that meet or exceed technical specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive electromagnetic and thermal design optimization of traction motors.
  • Characterize and calibrate motor systems on dynamometers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop rigorous testing plans to validate motor designs against key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to create detailed motor design drawings and release them to manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support for structural and mechanical analysis of motor systems.
  • Liaise with powertrain system integration teams to ensure seamless vehicle control integration.
  • Document and implement technical robustness measures throughout the motor design process.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art electromagnetics tools such as Maxwell 2D/3D, Motor CAD, and Altair Flux.
  • Expertise in working with advanced electromagnetic software packages, including Maxwell 2D/3D, MotorCAD, and Flux 2D/3D.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics and thermal aspects of electric motors.
  • In-depth knowledge of electric motor and controller optimization strategies, as well as first-time right motor prototype development.
  • Deep understanding of motor control units, including control strategies and systems, as well as battery systems.
