This is a critical technical role that requires expertise in full-stack software design and implementation. As a software professional, you will be responsible for designing, producing, testing, and implementing working software. You will work across the lifecycle of the system, from development to deployment.


The skills you will need include:

  • Strong experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, and CA7
  • Ability to exploit programming languages to solve complex problems
  • Complex requirements analysis capture and validation against business and systems requirements
  • Leadership experience in implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability, and performance
  • Collaboration skills with the ability to work with business teams to produce pragmatic solutions that work for the business
  • Information security policies and practices within the financial sector

As a software professional, you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Work in a permanent feature team
  • Develop knowledge of aspects of the associated platform across the disciplines of business, applications, data, and infrastructure
  • Liaise with principal engineers, architects in the domain, and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives
  • Oversee, manage, and contribute in Mainframe technical areas of Production incidents, system changes, new projects design and development, programme impact assessments, and decommissions
