Wine Sales Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Wine Sales Manager to lead our retail operations and drive sales growth in the wine category.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail management, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership role within the wine or beverage industry. They will be responsible for developing and executing the overall retail strategy, managing day-to-day operations, and leading high-performing store teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Execute Retail Strategy: Develop and execute the overall retail strategy to drive sales growth and market presence in the wine category.
  • Manage Day-to-Day Operations: Lead and manage day-to-day retail operations across all store locations, ensuring adherence to company standards and compliance.
  • Hire and Train Store Teams: Hire, train, and develop high-performing store teams, including store managers and floor staff.
  • Monitor Sales Performance: Monitor sales performance and implement improvement strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Oversee Inventory and Visual Merchandising: Oversee inventory planning, stock replenishment, and visual merchandising to optimize customer experience and product turnover.
  • Build Partnerships: Build partnerships with wine distributors, suppliers, and premium wine brands for product curation and promotions.
  • Analyze Consumer Trends: Analyze consumer trends, store performance, and competitor activity to inform business decisions.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all outlets operate in accordance with legal regulations, particularly those related to alcohol sales.
  • Enhance Brand Visibility: Coordinate with marketing and digital teams to enhance brand visibility and drive store traffic.
  • Develop Training Modules: Develop training modules to educate store staff about wine varieties, food pairings, and customer service excellence.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Minimum 8 Years of Retail Management Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in retail management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the wine or beverage industry.
  • Strong Knowledge of Wines: Strong knowledge of wines, wine regions, and wine retail dynamics.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-store operations and deliver results.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Commercial Thinking: Strong commercial and analytical thinking.
  • Customer Focus: Customer-focused mindset with a premium service orientation.
  • Familiarity with POS Systems: Familiarity with POS systems, inventory management tools, and retail analytics.
