System Operations Role

This is a key position that involves helping to revolutionize the way complex computer systems are operated. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, supervise and control intricate networks and applications, and operate distributed systems in a multi-vendor environment.

As a system operator, you will be on the technical frontline – performing batch operations as per service agreements, analyzing first-level issues across systems, and resolving/routing issues as appropriate. You will also have the opportunity to develop support system management processes specific to customer requirements, ensuring that we provide the highest level of service to our customers.

  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of systems, ensuring high availability, performance and reliability of critical business applications.
  • Responsible for system monitoring, job scheduling, backups, troubleshooting and user support.
  • Create, manage and monitor scheduled jobs using tools like schedulers.
  • Troubleshoot and restart failed jobs, ensuring they complete successfully.
  • Monitor batch process, automate job streams and provide daily operational support.
  • Maintain system and device health for high volume printers and drives.
  • Perform and manage backups.
  • Analyse logs and conduct root cause analysis of recurring problems.
  • Develop training materials and provide guidance to junior staff or cross functional teams.
  • Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Conduct audits and manage compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Document and maintain operational procedure and runbooks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in system operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of system architecture and operating systems.
  • Ready to work in rotational shifts.
  • Troubleshooting and technical experience related to systems.
  • Perform IPL's and good knowledge in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Expertise in handing transitions.
  • Must be able to run jobs from established run sheets and maintain those run sheets .

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge on basic trouble shooting of backup and recovery tools.
  • Bachelor Degree
